My biggest take-away from this video is that I really don’t like Elon Musk.
Why?
The BBC reporter James Calyton claims that he receives more hate speech on twitter today than before, instead of trying to understand his situation Elon goes on the attack. I’m sure there’s a lot of people out there who think Elon won that discussion and that it’s great. However, there’s a much better way to handle these kind of situations, displayed by for example Steven Jobs when he’s been criticized.
Jobs reacted way more empathetic towards the other person allowing him to gain more knowledge about the thoughts of the other person. This is certainly not the case with the way Elon handles this situation.
I’ve had managers acting exactly like Elon and that’s part of the reason why I’ve made changes about where I work.
There’s a lot of debate regarding weather or not Elon is a genius or not. I think he’s fortunate, not particularly skilled. He was born with money, nothing else.
Secondly, I watch almost nothing produced from the Swedish SVT so if it were up to me, I’d like for the media tax to go away. And yes, I regard it as a tax as there is no way for me to opt out, it is enforced by law.
